title: Hail, Holy Queen (The Mother of God in the Word of God)
author: Scott Hahn, PhD
circle: Mariology
publisher: Doubleday
One of the best books I’ve ever read about Mary! It can be easily understood by people not in serious theological studies, but can denitely be appreciated by those who are, since it packs a lot of what they are looking for in a book on Mary.
What are the roles of Mary and why? Scott Hahn brings us on an adventure that packs a lot of Scripture--from the Old and New Testament. Those who are studying the Scripture will love it, and those who are starting to do so will get a lot from it.
The book may appear as an instruction book about Mary at rst, but reading it also makes you aware of how she really is a perfect mother to all of us. In other words, you don’t only get nourished with knowledge but with a renewed desire to love Mary and make her an integral part of your life.
Hail, Holy Queen is easily a treasure to have for most Catholics and non-Catholics seeking a deeper understanding of Mary. On a personal level, it makes your heavenly mother known to you. As an evangelizing tool, it will equip you with what you need to defend the mother you will surely love. You’ll have to get a copy of it!

book review: fire within [by thomas dubay]
title: Fire Within
author: Thomas Dubay, SM
circle: Prayer/Spirituality
publisher: Ignatius Press
Many devout people use the word contemplation. Unfortunately, few of them actually know what they are talking about. What is contemplation and why are we all called to it? How do we achieve it? Fire Within answers these questions, and thus acts as a clear guide to real progress in prayer.
Fr. Thomas Dubay has done a magnicent job putting together a synthesis on prayer. Drawing from his extensive study and experience on the eld, his single-volume work brings together Scripture, Church Teachings and the guidance of two of the Church’s universal doctors--St. Teresa of Avila & St. John of the Cross--in a way that can be understood by all walks of life.
In a time when this essential aspect of our faith is often ignored and misunderstood, Fire Within proves to be a vital volume for all of us to read, understand and apply in our lives. Its message is fundamental--every Christian is called to the heights of contemplation. This book is highly recommended.
